On holiday - can you go to minor injuries for a cheat infection

Dd is 18 months and we are on holiday in devon near Plymouth. I think she had chest infection - a temp and a very chesty cough. We are by a minor injuries unit - can we go there or do I need to find a gp who will have us as a temporary resident?

I would start off at minor injuries as they should then be able to point out if somewhere else would be better. Depends on the local set up, our minor injuries has gps on site and it is where the on call service is based from anyway.

All gps will take you as temp resident. If you ring nhs direct they will tell you what to do, or look on Internet st local nhs services (it being weekend, they will have some sort of out of hours set up).

We had similar in Cornwall. The local minor injuries was described as not taking chest/breathing difficulties and so I rang the local gp practice instead. Was seen that day and they even had a pharmacy attached (unlike here). Brilliant service.
