Does anyone know if you can give Melatonin to a 5 & 7yr old for JETLAG

Got somewhat delayed in New York (DH forgot to check the expiry dates of all the passports!) .Girls went to bed at 3am & i dragged them out of their sleep at 1pm today but....school starts tomorrow!
If we could give them Melatonin it might just work, but there is no internet research on giving it to children for jetlag (just Autism and ADHD)
THanks!

Melatonin works in some children with ASD/ADHD as they do not make enough of this naturally occuring hormone. DS1 takes it for ASD, it takes a while to correctly work out what dose is needed, and also due to constantly changing guidelines is harder and harder to get on prescription. Not sure you are going to be able to roll up to a chemist and buy it, even if it did work for jetlag, which I would imagine is probably unlikely.

wouldn't a day off school be better?
