she is 10 and a half, isnt too good at washing her hair and often leaves shampoo in it, so sometimes I wash it to make sure, we have been using vosene, but even when I washed it she had loads of white bits in her hair

today it was really bad. she isnt too embarrassed about it, but will be going to high school in sep and she is not going with a head full of white flaky bits :(

any ideas? thanks

Is it the Vosene anti-dandruff one you're using?

You could try using Nizoral instead here in Boots

Its OK for use with children and it can clear it up if regular anti-dandruff shampoo isn't working.

My dd is 12 and she has always had dandruff and i can't seem to get rid of it. Tried every shampoo and even asked chemist and gp for something. Nothing. I always thought dandruff would be from having dry hair and scalp but dd's is always so greasy. Maybe its hormones!

I still get this at 40+! Have a sensitive scalp that reacts to lots of different shampoos and causes dandruff type "snowstorms". I discovered oilatum shampoo and found it cleared up quickly. Also use it on DD1 who has eczema on her scalp. I get it on prescription or sometimes just buy from Boots (about £9 a bottle).

I know this is going to sound bonkers but I will tell you anyway.

Cook with olive oil, add it to pasta, salads and pour it over bread. It's is almost magic for a flaky scalp.

ohyouBadBadkitten · 09/04/2012 12:09

Nizoral had done wonders for dds hair.

Our GP gave me a sample of something when I mentioned DD having embarrassing DD.

Unfortunately I can't remember what it was, (7 years ago), but she's now 14 and no more trouble.

A good pharmacist might be a good bet.

Never heard of olive oil in cooking, I do anyway ( got fed up with lots of bottles) and used to get dandruff now and I don't now.
