So we spent the weekend with lots of children all together in a small and cosy cottage and discovered on Sunday afternoon that one of them had rather suspicious looking spots, which have now been confirmed as being chicken pox. My 2 DDs haven't had it yet, so it's relatively inevitable they'll get it. My query is - are they infectious at all during incubation period? Because it's DD1's 2nd birthday on Wednesday and my instinct is that even if she's going to get it, it won't be for another 7 days or so, so we are fine to go ahead and see other kids this week, even though we know she has been exposed and is reasonably likely to get it. But is that irresponsible and could she be contagious that soon, if she is going to get it? Because if she is, then I should obviously tell the other parents and let them decide not to come. Would welcome any thoughts...
