Brushing my toddlers pegs! NIGHTMARE!!

Please please please share your top tips for getting my extremely stubborn 20 month old to let me clean her pegs! She grabs the brush and chews on it, so I try and wiggle my way in with a second brush but she clamps her mouth shut and only opens it to yell "NO!"

We have also tried cleaning my teeth, cleaning teddy's teeth, looking for monsters in her mouth etc etc but nothing seems to work. We get to the point of screaming and crying, which worries me as I think it may be that her teeth/ gums are hurting due to teething.

I alternate between pinning her down and forcing her, and taking a "gently gently" approach, and feel like this will never get better!

HEEEEEELP!!!!

well I was going to suggest you look for monsters but you've tried that

why not tell her she is a big girl and she can do it as long as mummy or daddy check after and then when you are checking mysteriously find a bit of breakfast (or an ostrich or elephant -they always work well)

ah the stubborn age -I remember it well

Thanks workshy, will give it a go. One of the problems is that we have always dressed it up as a fun game so I am not sure she really gets the purpose of it! And I put it off at night until after she has milk so by then she is exhausted. Otherwise she wants a breastfeed after her teeth are done and I know that it is defeating the object.

I can't even get her to "open wide" ... Ever. Blush
