Brown mark on palm of DS's hand

My DS (5) has had a mark on the palm of his hand for a few months now. At first I thought it was a blood blister but in the last couple of weeks, it is looking more mole like. It is completely smooth, light brown and oval shaped. He is seeing the dermatalogist tomorrow (luckily he is already under one for his eczema so it was easy to get an appt) but I have made the mistake of googling and I am frantic with worry, especially as he has been on Protopic cream for his eczema and there have been cases of skin cancer reported on it (though dermo assures me no proven connection and v. rare but still am scared).

Does anyone have any advice/experience to share?

Thank you in advance.

Pammym.

Marking my place as my DS has a similar thing on the bottom of his foot.

Hi Beanbagz. I saw the dermatologist with DS today and he said it's fine, it is just a harmless, benign mole - I am sooo relieved. He said you can get moles on the palms of hands and on the soles of feet - hope this helps.

Thanks for letting me know and i'm glad you're relieved too. Did the dermatologist say if it would be permanent? Or would it get smaller or bigger with age (my DS is 7)?

He didn't say whether or not it would be permanent but I kind of assumed it would be. He has measured it so they can keep an eye on any growth but I think he is only doing that because we are at the clinic fairly regularly any way with DS's eczema.
