Hi
Yesterday my DS2 (4) tripped and fell on a climbing frame at playgroup, and knocked 4 teeth clean out and pushed one of his front ones back up into the gum. (so 5 gone altogether) We took him to dentist and hospital, but they understandably said they couldn't do anything, but give him a soft food diet, and give him time to heal. Thankfully its only his baby teeth, the front two, the 2 on either side and another one to the side, but its a huge shockSad. He also has a large cut on the inside of his mouth, which they did say they could stitch, but they didn't think it would help, and a cut in the corner of his mouth. I know the next week will be hard, but has anyone else ever had this, and how will it affect him longterm speech and eating wise?

God how awful for you both. Poor little fella. I'm sure he'll adapt in the long term and it may be that his grown up ones will come though a bit sooner? DD lost one tooth due to accident and that was hard enough, but 5 is such a lot!

I know its such a shock and when you look at him it will make you feel so sad, but they will grow back so just try to be thankful that his face/eyes/hands etc are all ok. :(

Poor thing! Poor you too, it must have been horrible. I am sure the adult teeth should be ok coming through, and shouldn't affect his speech or eating. Please don't worry and try to 'spot' things that may be caused by the fall (poor little thing). Hope he's ok and not in pain.

I am almost in tears here! I am getting so soppy in my old age.

Thanks - yes it was an awful shock, but apart from a small cut on his face looks ok, so it could have been a lot worse. He's also been so brave, and I feel so upset - I was fine yesterday, but that might have been adrenaline

Poor you! Don't worry I knocked out my front teeth at 4 falling off a slide, no long term damage, just a gappy smile for a long time! I can remember falling but not any pain after so can't have been too bad.
