DD has been ill with chest infections since beginning of Jan. Help!

DD1 aged 3 and a half has been prescribed third lot of antibiotics since beginning of Jan. Have not given her this lot as they make her sick. I feel the antibiotics are pulling her down. She can't seem to shift these infections and gets better and falls back again. I'm getting worried about her as she refuses to eat and is getting skinny. Any suggestions on what I can do to build her up and help her fight these infections? I give her Calpol to keep her going but don't like giving her this for extended periods of time.

I would ask for her to referred to a paediatrician.

Tbh I'm wondering why you're not giving the antibiotics. Round here they don't give them out easily, so I wouldn't not give them, particuarly for a chest infection, unless I was pretty sure that they weren't needed.

Unless she has always been getting that many illnesses then it's almost certainly one of those things, she's been pulled down and so is more suseptable to other infections, or maybe the infection hasn't completely gone. I'd give the antibiotics then have a dr. appointment to check it has completely gone at the end of the course. When dd1 had pneumonia she had 3 weeks of antibiotics until they were satisfied it had cleared.
