Has anyone tried using probiotics for diahrrea due to antibiotic therapy?

my 7 month old baby boy has been put on a course of antibiotics to try and sort out a chronic ongoing cough. The last time he had antibiotics (for a throat infection) he had severe diahrrea for 10 days which resulted in him losing weight and being really dehydrated. This time, i was considering tryin a probiotic powder which i've seen (www.lloydspharmacy.com/en/optibac-probiotics-probio-start-for-your-childs-health-17277) to try to prevent it happening again. I was wondering if anyone else has tried this and if so with what success? or if anyone else has any other suggestions - advice would be much appreciated. (GP less than helpful - i'm doubtful that this course of antibiotics is actually even required - seems like a last ditch effort before referral to paediatrics to me - as has tried everything else!)

We always use probiotics with antibiotics
currently have this one Biocare Strawberry Acidophilus which mixes into milk and juice really well

imo I can't see how using the probiotic would do any harm - worst case is you spend the money and nothing changes but natural immunity is all linked to healthy gut so it makes sense - mine all have regular probiotics
