Can a virus make a child feel sick but not be sick?

DD (8yo) has been ill with unknown virus - says she feels achy, headachy, bit of a temperature etc. But she's been feeling sick for 2 days as well but hasn't actually been sick. She is eating normal meals but keeps complaining of sickness. Do anybody else's children feek sick with a non-stomach virus? I have been Googling nausea in children for reasons other than stomach bugs and of course I am now terrified :)

Dd1 (13) had this last week as did quite a few of her friends. Lasted for a couple of days & then was fine. She said she hadn't felt that nauseous before without actually being sick. She hates being off school so I knew it was bad when she asked if she could just go back to bed.

Having a temperature will often make a child feel sick. It's because when the body needs to concentrate on using its resources to fight infection or a virus, less essential functions like digestion get put to one side, which results in feeling sick. Hope your DD feels better soon.
