Rough cheeks of a newborn (7 weeks), what cream to use?

My newborn has really rough cheeks and dry skin. Should I leave it to fix itself or can anyone recommend a gentle cream or product that might be suitable? He doesn't appear to have allergies and we're (so far) an allergy free family.

TIA

I seem to remember the HV said to use olive oil when I asked?? I'm not sure if this was for face as well but might be worth checking in the chemist/ with Hv if this is still ok.

Yep, olive oil here as well.

BrianButterfield · 10/02/2012 12:24

Yes, olive oil is good. I wouldn't really use any 'product' until they're a bit older.

Yes olive oil is the recommended thing for any dry skin/cradle cap etc (although don't do what DH once did and use the chip fat oil that I'd decanted into the oil bottle to throw away - DS smelt like a deep fat fryer Grin)

Yep, a little olive oil in the bath water works wonders.

aaah, brilliant, I was concerned about using any kind of product. Thanks everyone.

I've been using this on my ds and it works well. You only need a tiny bit so will last for ages and probably not as messy as olive oil.
