DS has lump on chest, waiting to see dr tomorrow

My lovely 8yo has a pea sized lump in what could be his lymph glands on his chest. We saw a couple of drs 2 weeks ago who said to keep an eye on it, but not to worry.

They really don't know me - this has kept me up most nights.

None of his other glands are up and he is well in himself. He does have infected molloscum on his tummy which we are putting cream on and is getting better, so dr thought that might have triggered the nearest gland.

However, last night I found another one about an inch away and heading upto his armpit. This has thrown me completely - i am a terrible worrier anyway. Can I insist that he have a scan or something to find out what this is?

If Dr has told you to keep an eye on it and then another has appeared then yes, I would insist that they check it out, whether scan or other tests. As you say, its probably to do with his other issue, but I would certainly take him back to make sure, especially as there is something new to report.

I remember finding similar behind DD's neck and panicking, but it went down of its own accord, so don't let yourself imagine all sorts.

DS1 also had lumps behind his nipples at about 8yo, which worried me, but it turned out they were 'breast-buds' as he was having a hormone surge (a bit early!) - could it be that?

Just be calm and firm with Dr and be calm and reassuring with DS and if you're not satisfied with the outcome, see someone else.

and yes, for clarification, it is a boy with breast-buds. Quite common apparently!

My DS has loads of swollen glands, mainly in his neck on one side....he has been referred to paeds twice who on both occasions weren't the slightest bit concerned..they did run blood tests, the first of which was clear and the second happened a week ago and i've not heard anything yet

Like your DS, my DS is well in himself which is reassuring....paediatrician asked me about night sweats and weight loss but we've had none of that...he also mentioned that 99% of swollen glands and nothing to worry about and that of the ones that are, most of them are just above the clavicle.

Tis such a worry, i've been there - but i'm sure he'll be fine!
