Will the bump on my toddler's forehead ever go?

My almost 2 year old fell against the edge of an open door and ended up with a nasty line-shaped duck egg. A month on, the bruise has mostly gone, but he still has a lump. Is this a permanent fixture? :(

I dunno. But my DD who is 3.5 has had the very same thing for over a year. Sad

My DD did exactly the same thing in November and still has the lump.

DS2 is 5, he fell over loads as a kid - head permanently had a lump one side or t'other. His head is still an odd shape now I'm afraid.

Apparently, a bruise can calcify leaving a hard lump like this. My DS had one years ago. It did eventually get "reabsorbed" but it took months, maybe even a year or so!

Thanks for the responses. Justanotherworried mum, that is really reassuring (although it seems some bumps just don't go!). There is still a very faint red line/bruise on DS' forehead, so maybe that means it just needs more time to go down. Fingers crossed! I wouldn't mind so much if it were on the side of his head, but it's right in the middle of his forehead - typical!
