A question for mums of children with abdominal migraine

Help please !

My DD1 has ben diagnosed witha abdominal migraine for the past few years. Her "attack" normally lasts 3/4 days. Unfortunately she has now been ill for a week with excrutiating pain. She has had antispasmodics via 2 trips to the GPs. No pain relief works. She has been up in the night with it for the past 3 nights and pretty much in bed for the week.

My question is - has anyone elses child had it for so long? Im at the end of my tether with this (letters from the attendance officer etc) that I am seeking a second opinion from another paediatrician. Cluthing at straws for a diagnosis that we may be able to treat.

Im wondering (from another post I have seen today)that this could be an attack of mesenteric adentiitis??

thanks if anyone can help

My son had it for a while , and for a while it was thought he may have a grumbling appendix, as symptoms were so similar. he used to get v ill with it for days at a time and also missed loads of schooling. Anti spasmodics didnt work either, and in the end the paediatrician prescribed a liquid painkiller, but for the life of me now i cannot think of the name of it atm (which is now bugging me)

However it did work, and he has not had an episode for over a year.

Hope your dd feels better soon and it resolves itself quickly.

Pizotifen! That was it, iirc he had to take it nightly, as it made him sleepy, but it did work.

My ds suffered with these for about 4-5 years, started when he was aged 4ish. He is now 11 and he hasn't had one since was about 9 iirc.
