Just after Christmas we were watching TV when DS (10) suddenly said his stomach really hurt. He got up to go to bed and fainted as he walked upstairs (Luckily I was right behind him), he came around v. fast and started to be sick, but by the time I found my phone to call an ambulance it was all over and he was okay. Still pale but saying he felt okay. So I called NHS Direct and the said perhaps he is coming down with a stomach bug and the faint was a pain response. He was totally fine thereafter until today.
About an hour ago the same thing happened. This time he didn't faint and wasn't sick, but he had sudden stomach pain, went very pale and seemed for a few minutes very disorientated, not sure whether he would be sick, or where he wanted to be. We went downstairs and he didn't want me to leave the room. I am sleeping in with the DCs tonight. He seems fine now.
Both times this has happened has been about 9pm ish, and both times while watching TV that was a bit disturbing (for a 10 year old). The first time it was Son of Rambow (wouldn't normally let him watch a 15 but it is filmed at my old school so I wanted to show him!), when it had happened it had just been the part where the boy falls into the oil. Just now we were also watching something that according to the listings was an 'uplifting comedy' but involved a boy trying to kill himself then accidentally admit himself to a psych ward. I was having doubts about them watching it further when this happened with DS. My friend I live with thinks it is the staying up, while I think it might be linked to watching that kind of thing, I get easily disturbed by TV and feel things quite viscerally.
We have also moved house last week so things have been more stressful than usual generally, but not ridiculously so. Going to take him to the Dr on Monday anyway but just wondering if anyone has had any experience with anything similar/can offer any advice?
