Thanks for reading this.
My son has just turned 3 last week when he got another water infection-he had one in Oct as well.Low fever/sickeness/pain when weeing.I took him back to doc (not my usual one) and he prescribed him anitiobiotics again as the dip test showed an infection.
Seemed to clear up within a few days and back to his normal self.
The last week he has been very tired and wants to flop around and has very little energy compared to how he normally is.He is complaining of lower back pain and going to the loo every 15 mins or so.Not a massive wee but enough to fill half a urine sample pot.He is very teary and is crying at the drop of a hat (very unlike him).
I phoned the docs and told them what was happening and they sent a sample away to be checked and gave me a 3 day course of a different antibiotics. So far the results are all clear and just awaiting for the culture results.I took him to see the doc again yesterday (she must be SO bored of seeing us) she checked his kidneys and all was fine but she has referred him to get his kidneys scanned to rule out anything there.
He is still weeing every 10-15 mins and is shattered and just so fed up......I dont know what to do for him and im worried sick to be honest.
ANy ideas?

I don't know what else you can do other than wait for results and get him to drink A LOT.

Hope he feels better soon. Is it an ultrasound he's getting or are they putting dye in? My son had an ultrasound and all was fine (2 UTIs). However, he was put on trimethroprim for the whole 4 months we were waiting for the appt - you could ask about that?

Repeat urine infections always need a follow up just in case there's a kidney problem as the infection will have come either via the kidneys or his foreskin.

DS1 had this at the same age and there was nothing wrong with his kidneys. Worried me sick at the time tho!

He's 18 now Smile

thanks for replying. He has an appt at the end of the month so thankfully not too long to wait.I will up his drinking though he has been going to the loo so often - sometimes a full wee sometimes just a trickle.I think the thought of going to the loo again has scared him as he had so much pain when he had the infection and it really has played onhis mind..a lot.
