Bizarre rash then sore tummy in 8yo dd??

Put dd to bed last night at about 8. Went downstairs. DH came in from work at 9 and went upstairs - dd still awake and scratching with hives all over her back. She hadn't come down to tell me about it Hmm. Gave her piriton, calamine, she slept. This morning she still has some rash but mainly scratch marks - all over her trunk and neck. Was fine first thing but then suddenly said she had a very sore tummy and was quite pale.

Could this sore tummy on and off be a sign of early puberty??

Are the tummy and the rash linked??

What could be causing the rash? No new washing powder/nightie/toiletries.

Have sent her off to school as she has missed some school recently with sore tummy (IBS related, different kind of sore tummy). Am wondering if it is psychological too, if she's worried about something, tho she says not.

Very bizarre. Any suggestions?

I wouldn't think of puberty considering she has a rash...but I am surprised you sent her to school. The rash could indicate a virus begining...my DD has somrthing recently that began with rash and then she was very sick for about a week. If I were youu I would have kept her at home. did you mention to her teacher she hadn't been well?

Hi Band - I didn't mean the rash could be a sign of puberty, I meant the sore tummy (GP suggested it the other day when I took dd to see her).

I had thought of the rash as a skin reaction to something not to an illness. What illnesses start with a rash? Will see how she is tonight.
