Help re stomach pain/virus in 6yr old DD

DD had what appeared to be a stomach virus last week - nausea/slight stomach ache for 2 days, followed by vomiting (couldn't keep water down even) and stomach cramps for 2 days. Hasn't been sick since Wednesday evening and hasn't had diarrhoea at any point - normal poo throughout. Appetite returning since fri/sat, but she is still having awful stomach aches.
I spoke to the gp this morning and she said it may just take a while to get over and give calpol (which does nothing).

The wierd thing is she is LOADS worse from mid afternoon onwards and last night was up crying in the night 3x, but then woke up fine in the morning. I can't work out why it would be consistently bad at a certain time of day. Yesterday she did eat some tea, today she had none (as she already felt bad).

Any thoughts? If we have another bad night then I will obviously insist on a gp appt tomorrow sometime but I am confused as one minute I feel we need to rush to a&e, the next i think she is getting better.

thanks

Have had similar here. DS2 got it first about 3 weeks ago, no diarrhoea initially, recovered appetite, intermittent stomach aches usually worse in the evening no matter what or how much he had eaten. Eventually passed after about 10 days. We are now going through the tail end of this with DS1 who got it a couple of weeks after DS2. Only difference is that both DS1 and DS2 developed diarrhoea as they got the stomach aches and began to get better. DS2 was absolutely fine with no pain or any other symptoms after 2 weeks.

If the pain is so bad it's waking her consistently I think I'd get her to the doctors as you say.

many thanks DHU - big improvement today so I am hoping she is on the way up. Obviously just one of those ones that hangs around a bit.
