My 9 year old pointed out she has a dent in her head...

she does... a discernible trough / groove on the upper left hand side. It doesn't hurt her - is this normal or does it warrant a trip to the docs?

I think anything could be normal & perfectly harmless, but I'd take her to the doctor just to check on it. How long ago did she notice?

Has she always had it? Is there one on the other side? Has she had any head trauma recently? Any pain, dizziness, vision disturbances, nausea?

It's possible it's one of the areas where the plates of the skull fuse. I can feel the ones in my forehead and a couple on the top. If you're worried pop to your doctor & let them have a look to be on the safe side.
