Help I've put old antibiotic eye drops in my 4 yr old's eye!

My 4 yr old came home from school with a gungy left eye and chemist prescribed antibiotic eye drops.

At bedtime dh brought them up from the fridge and I put them in her eye. Have only now realised they were old drops from about 2 months ago (stored in the fridge the whole time but opened about 2 months ago when my son had Conjunctivitus).

Anyone know if it will be ok? I am panicking but dh is very relaxed....

Please help - does anyone know if they 'go off' and what effect if any there might be? She is fast asleep at the moment.

I would assume that the active ingredient may no longer be active and so might not work?

Nothing to worry over though imo. Of course, I'm not a trained optometrist so disclaimers apply!

They just won't be as effective. So long as its been in the fridge that'll be fine.

Not ideal but not that big a deal. Chuck them and use the new ones from now on.

You can get bugs growing in the bottle, but not that common especially if they;ve been fridged.
