The problem seems to have started when he was 6 months old coinciding when solids were introduced. Some nights he whines during sleep 3-10 times and it is enough to put my hand on him and say Shhh for him to go back to quiet sleep (if I don?t do, sometimes whining escalates to crying and waking up). He recently had postvaccination fever and cold and his sleep deteriorated greatly. He now wakes up crying, continues to whine and cry for 1-1.5 hours (half asleep or awake), then goes back to sleep for couple of hours, then a period of whining/crying again. When he cries, sometimes he only rotates, and sometimes throws legs in the air as in pain, or arches his back. I have heard his tummy rumbling and gurgling, but rarely a fart. He was better last night, after I gave him some calming herbal medicine.
Daytime he is happy cheerful lad and sleeps well up to 1.5 hours.
I struggle to understand whether is a physical (stomach) or nervous reason. At one point I was almost convinced that it is tummy problems, or silent reflux, or some food intolerance, or irritable bowel syndrome, or worms. But there are no other symptoms like rash or daytime problems, and it is a bit better after occasional use of calming medicine. I have booked appointment with GP (in 1.5 weeks time), but I am almost certain what they will say - ?a small child, will grow out etc.?
I don?t relate it with teething because it?s been every single night better or worse.
Any advice where do I start?
