My son's soft spot hasn't closed yet, and his growth is slow. What could it be?

He was born perfectly average at 7lb 13.

Now he's 19 months old and is only 21lbs, which is about the average size of a 9 month old I think.
His growth has always very slowly tailed off.

Also his soft spot is still there and I've read that it's usually closed by 15 months?

Apart from that he's perfectly healthy.

Could he be suffering dwarvism??

My other son is huge, always has been, aged 4 and in aged 6 clothes.
And I'm also tall 5ft8.

I always thought it closed up around 18 months or a bit later. Maybe your lo is just destined to be smaller than your other ds. Have you taken him to be checked out to put your mind at ease.

Yes, he's weighed by the health visitor.
He's such a bright, healthy looking tot that noone else worries, they focus on my older child who is disabled.

I wonder why he's small though, he's SO active, and a slender baby.

I wouldn't worry too much if I were you, as long as he is healt ccchy and active. My DD2 is 2, but the size of a 18 month old, and she was born at 7lb11oz.

I think the soft spot can take up to two years to close.

*healthy and active.
