Not really a health problem, but dd2(12) has a dirty neck and it will not come clean

It's really weird. It's on the front of her neck. She had a small patch for ages and i tried scrubbing it off several times but nothing ever shifted it and how it's bigger.

It's like the skin has become discoloured sort of. Any ideas on what it is and how to get rid ??

Could be a fungal infection - easily treated but let a GP look at it

Thank's

The pics of that dont really look like what dd has but it's worth asking. Dd's is more like an actual dirty mark.

I have a birth Mark on the side on my neck which looks like a dirty patch. My granny didn't believe me and once scrubbed at it with a brush!

Take her to the doctor - it could be a sign of something else. I get this as a symptom of PCOS en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acanthosis_nigricans

JaneFeestelijkBierdekijn · 16/11/2011 20:14

It might be vitiligo...not sure without seeing it. I wouldn't be sure anyway actually Smile

This is something to do with a change in pigment, it happens in patches.

I was going to suggest eye make up remover when I read your title but seems that won't be of use!

I use mine on ds1 who has the dirtiest neck in the world.

TheOriginalNutcracker · 16/11/2011 20:53

Thank's all, I will get her to the gp.

DS1 has exactly the same thing - i spent ages trying to scrub it clean but i think it is pigment - he also has a patch on side of his face, just next to a white patch - would be interested to hear what your GP says though

I agree it sounds like she should see the GP, but I do remember my mum getting very cross with me for not washing properly at about the same age. I had a greyish patch on my neck. It didn't budge with soap and water, but I did shift it with clearsil on cotton wool. Mum was right, I hadn't been washing properly BTW Blush
