Antibiotic ear-drops 4 x a day - would you send into school?

DD1 (8) is on antibiotic ear drops to clear up an ear infection and is supposed to have them 4 x a day. When she goes back to school on Monday, should I send them into school for a dose at lunchtime? Or try to cram 4 doses into the hours she's at home (which would be something like 1 @ 4.30; 1 @ 6; 1 @ 8.30)?

Yes, I'd send to school (and have done), But our school won't administer ear or eye drops (do other medicine) so I had to go in at lunch to do it. Dd2 thought it was great fun.

You need to ask if school will administer. Our school won't but would supervise if she can do them herself.

I would as long as school are happy to administer them.

Do you have a copy of your ds's schools medication policy?

sorry - dd Blush

I'm a TA in a school. We're told by our school nursing team that if a medication is 3x a day there is no need for us to administer at school but if it's 4x then yes, we can administer. Not all schools are happy to give meds though so check first.

Our school won't administer unless it's long term medication, so it's worth checking.

On a personal note, I can recommend not trying to drive over in what's laughably called a lunch hour to give antibiotics and totalling your car on the way Blush

Thanks. This is all useful. Still undecided but tending towards not sending them in, and just doing 3 doses in the late pm / eve.
