Knee pain in toddler

Hi all yesterday afternoon dd2 who's 2.3 suddenly starting screaming and her leg gave out from under her. She was very upset so I looked at knee as she was saying 'knee knee' an it looks fine not swollen no bruising and didn't hurt her when I moved and bent her leg. However for the rest of yesterday she was very reluctant to walk on it and when she did she was ok fo a while then would scream and fall again!
I thought maybe a pulled muscle as she's very over active. This morning she is still intermittently whinging about it, sometimes fine then she falls and screams again!
Does this sound like growing pains/strained muscle or is it worthy of a GP visit?? She's totally fine and walking round ok a lot of the time until it gives her pain and she falls and limps and won't weight bear!

Do I leave it another day and see if it improves?
Thanks

I would take her to the GP if it is still causing her to be unable to walk without pain.

Hi chundle how is your dd now? In march my ds got a toddler fracture from going over on his ankle when running. He refused to walk & we didn't take him to hospital until the next day as thought he would forget about it & start walking on it. The nurse in triage knew before X-ray what was wrong as very common. If your dd still refusing to walk I would get it checked out.

Growing pains generally only happen at night and when the morning comes they are as right as rain. (can you tell i'm in the middle of it with my dc!)

My dc1 also fractured her tibia with very little force just before her 2nd birthday and had similar kind of symptoms. Think it would be worth taking your dc for an xray - it'll at least put your mind at rest.
