7month old with cancer - support group for my friend?

A friend's 7 month old has had a malignant tumour removed from his spine but doctors think it may have spread to his liver. They are awaiting news of what treatment he will need and have been told that whilst they are confident it's curable, treatment will probably take 6-9 months. Is there a MN group or other kind of support group I can point my friend towards (when she is ready)?

Clic Sargent are very good at giving advice, and they have online forums too.

oh God, that's terrible. So :( for your friend and I hope her DS comes through ok.

I don't think there is a specific MN group for this kind of thing (although perhaps there should be one?) but there are definitely people on here who have been through dealing with childhood cancer and serious illness; so if she wants somewhere to come and randomly rant and swear and scream about the unfairness of it all, here is as good a place as any.

My niece had a brain tumour removed when she was 21mo - thankfully she is fine now and going well at 6yo, but still needs to be monitored and there is still a risk it may come back - I hope your friend's DS is one of the success stories.

I have asked for a cancer section on health but HQ said no

She should try facebook groups, if she wants something online, though there should be support groups locally for her. I found a really good one for ALL on facebook, and it helps to read about the experiences of other parents. There might be a childhood cancer support group on there.

The ladies on the TAMOXIFEN thread are lovely, having had/going through the experience of cancer themselves (in general health), and I've posted on there before.
