17 month old DD has pimple like bumps

on both cheeks, both arms and a few on the tops of each thigh. She has had the bumps on her cheeks since she was a few weeks old. The bumps on her arms & legs only started once she was a bit older, but they are there every day. Some days they aren't as noticeable but they are still there nonetheless. I have tried diprobase, vaseline, E45 and Oilatum cream and none of these things have seemed to make much difference. They don't seem to bother her, no itching or anything like it, but they can be a bit unsightly.

Does anyone know what this could be or have any experience in dealing with it with your own children?

I am debating on whether or not to take her to see the GP, but I'm a bit wary to do it since it doesn't seem to be causing her any distress. My husband is lactose intolerant and I am starting to wonder if this may be the case with her or some other food allergy.

I have had it since I was little and so do my children. I forgot what it's called- something to do with keratin...I'm sure someone will come on here who will know the name. Not dangerous, just keratin clogging the pores I think

Dermatologist told me once that in terms of treatment you can use a cream but tbh it looked very 'medicalised' iyswim- wouldn't want to put that on my babies' skin.

What works is sun and scrubbing with salt under shower- not very helpful for a toddler, I realise.

Oh and the bumps on my face got much better when I was teenager (or even earlier) and my DS is 9 and they're gone as well (although he still has a few on his arms).

Ah, it's called keratosis pilaris. Google pics and see if that's it!

Sounds like Keratosis pilaris. My DD has it (inherited from her Dad's side). It is unsightly and is sometimes worse than others. Lots of threads on here about creams with urea in helping (like the cracked heel stuff) but she is only small yet and I don't want to use something so strong. Maybe when she is older and is more concious of it we may try the harsher creams. Meanwhile I use a flannel to do some gentle exfoliation and keep well moisturised with an aloe based cream.

Yes, I saw that when I was 'googling' the other day and I thought that that might be what it was. Hers aren't red though, sometimes her cheeks are flushed which make them stand out more but generally they are flesh coloured with a head on them, her skin feels rough in those areas as well.

rushofbloodtothefeet - Would you mind telling me if the aloe based cream that you use on your DD helps at all? If so, which one do you use? I am willing to try anything even if it eases it off just a little bit.

AuntieMonica - Is it the Flexitol oil?

i use the heel cream - i see you mean on your 17mth old, wouldn't recommend you use it on a DC - sorry

dana I've used a variety of aloe creams. We tried the 100% aloe gel from Holland & Barrett, but it does go on a bit sticky. Very soothing though. Cream based ones are a bit easier to apply. I think with any moisturising you have to stick at it to see results.

DDs bumps are not generally reddish either, just raised bumps on her arms and legs and sometimes the sides of her face and oddly enough in her eyebrows. Some of them have a little plug in which can be scratched out. She doesn't find them irritating, though the skin can look rather dry. I feel sad that she has it though, and hope we can find a solution for her when she gets to be a teenager

I get this on my upper arms and oddly found that soap and glory clean on me shower gel made a huge difference to it, just using it whenever I showered

My Ds has spots/pimples like this. Only thing that makes it better is Sanex body wash (childrens) and using fairy soap powder for washing clothes. tried all sorts of creams before that.
