How much Ventolin can you give a 2.9 yr old?

DS was prescribed an inhaler at about 10 months old as he had had an ongoing cough which had lasted for about 6 months. I only needed to give him the inhaler once and the cough cleared up - he has never had any need to use it again and he is now 2.9.

I have had really bad asthma the past few days which is totally out of the ordinary for me - was advised by on call doctor to take 20 puffs last night.

Then a few hours ago, DS suddenly went pale, had dark circles under his eyes and started yawning a lot and looking like he was going to pass out. At first I thought he was going to be sick, but then I thought I'd just try him with 2 puffs ventolin and he seemed to instantly perk up/pinkened cheeks and lips.

I'm not sure what to do now - can't get a GP appointment today - not sure how much ventolin he can have and don't even know if it IS asthma.

If anyone has any advice I'd be grateful Smile.

(I've only just redeveloped asthma after being free of it for over 15 years Sad, so a bit out of the loop!)

Thanks BeerTricks - yes I think I will call again and see if I can at least speak to someone. I've no idea why we have both suddenly got really bad - I'm assuming the heat and then rain is possibly affecting pollen levels?

I agree about trying to get him to see someone today, epspecially if it happens again.

DS has been having up to 10 puffs since he was 6 months so the amount you give shouldn't be an issue - although if he has 10 puffs we have to go straight to a and e.
