've been really worried about my stomach problems that have been going on for about a year now.

He keeps getting really bad stomach cramps about once a week that last for a few mins then go ? today we started eating our roast then he complained and he looked like he was in real pain so I took him to the loo but he didn't need to go as he already went this morn .

He has been on Movicol for over a week now which has made him regular so it can't be constipation and he has had an episode like this about 5 times now . He eats really well and I've kept a food diary and can't pinpoint any foods that could be causing it and he runs around like any other child .

I just wanted to know if there any other mums with kids who have displayed the same symptoms. Really want to enjoy my last three weeks of preg and am not sleeping because I'm sorry worried about my poor little four year old !

Is it MA ?? as I think it's been going on for too long to be that ??

Hi

i would say, if you haven't already done it, to have a gluten intolerance test for coeliac disease. Just to eliminate it if nothing else.

oh feel sorry for you honeyl. My dd has lots of allergies and did have real bad constipation problems for years. Due to this she has Movicol. I do find she complains with bouts of pains ect quite often but does go to the toilet regularly now thank goodness due to the medication. I just wonder sometimes if it is the Movicol and finding the correct dose to give to your child, or whether it does just cause some discomfort. I have her on low doses though. Used to give as little as half a sachet daily but found constipation was creeping back and so increased to a full sachet. Then pains and she seemed a little to loose so have recently changed it to giving her a full sachet every other day. It is very difficult, as with allergies it could be a food intolerance giving pains and loose poo aswell as causing constipation.

I have no advice except to say that ds complained of stomach pains for a year. We ended up taking him to see a consultant pediatrician who could find nothing wrong with him. About 6 months later, they stopped.

Do get it checked out as the others have said, but don't worry yourself into a tizz about it.

No worries. Do let me know what happens though as I specialise in immunology/genetics and would love to help if I can.

My daughter used to be like this. I found it was more prevalent when her routine changed, eg off pre-school. She is quite emotional and it was linked to her feelings, even though it seemed like she had nothing to worry about.

She also gets tummy ache before getting ay kind of bug/cold. There are glands in your tummy.

As she has got older she still gets them but less frequently.

Does he get any other aches and pains? Apparently this is also a symptom of hypermobility - know a few kids who have been diagnosed.

mine used to get abdo migraines which sounds bizarre

they grew out of them

kidshurt · 17/05/2011 06:29

My ds aged 4 has had stomach cramps daily for 9 months and is also wetting again after being dry for over a year. He is under the hospital and is on movical too but still no answers.

My dd (4) had the same as Eustacia - an upper respiratory infection with no symptoms other than raised glands in her tummy. Hers only went on for about 6 weeks but I guess there could be an extended version?

AlsoAvailableSober · 17/05/2011 06:36

Sorry, the symptoms were sharp tummy pains a few times a day, apparently caused by the glands
