3 year old with chickenpox seems to have gone deaf!

My 3 year old has chicken pox (spots appeared Saturday) and today he is struggling to hear me (look at me when you talk Mummy) and talking very quietly.

Is it random or is the chicken pox somehow blocking his ears? Do I need to take him to the GP or see if he gets back to normal by himself?

No not random, he can have blisters in his ear blocking the sounds. Get it check so it doesn't get infected, he might need some drops to do so.

Oh thank you I never thought of that. I'll take him in tomorrow.
