Do they do blood tests for all 12 month olds in the UK?

We are overseas and yesterday when we were at the Dr's getting my DD's vaccinations he mentioned it was time to do blood tests, which includes a check amongst other things, for lead. I said we didn't have time then and we were dashing off, as I wanted to do a bit of research first and find out if they are necessary. I don't really want to have my 12 month old have blood taken unless she really needs it.

Can anyone help please?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Medical professionals only take blood from little ones if it's really necessary because of the distress it causes them. It's certainly not routine.

Right, thanks everybody. I will refuse these tests.
