I can't imagine it will do any harm. Might be a bit less effective though.

MummyBerryJuice · 02/05/2011 21:33

It probably just won't have as much active ingredient any longer. If youare really worried you should ring NHS direct and check with them. But I wouldn't stress.

TragicallyRoyallyHip · 02/05/2011 21:34

I don't think it will harm her. As far as I know out of date medicine will just not work as well.

DaphneHeartsFred · 02/05/2011 21:36

Check with NHS Direct. As medicines go out of date their active ingredient can become stronger and therefore you can inadvertantly give an overdose.

THIS MAY NOT BE THE CASE FOR NUROFEN.

I still think it's best to check though.

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 02/05/2011 21:37

It wont do her any harm, there's a slight chance it will be a little less effective, that's all.

Pancakeflipper · 02/05/2011 21:38

No - it just isn't as strong as an in-date one. But don't get an in-date one and give another dose, just incase it's still effective.

Hope DC gets better soon.

Thanks everyone :)

It will be fine. It would never get concentrated enough in that time in a sealed bottle to cause harm. And anyway there would be no treatment given for out of date meds, just observe and dont give anymore for 6 hours.
