Would treatment be making DDs verrucas sore?

DD has 2 verrucas which are very unslightly but never caused any pain. I took her to the docs a couple of weeks ago as they were getting bigger and was prescribed Salactol (Lactic acid). Have been treating religiously every night for 2 weeks now (and what a PITA it is!). For the past 2 or 3 days she has been complaining they are sore, itchy and has woken a couple of times in the night with it. Should I persist or take her back to the docs? Not sure if this just means the acid is working - they don't look any different to me yet.

I don't have any knowledge personally but a friend of mine (adult) had quite a big one and using the verruca treatment has in her words 'knackered the soft tissue around the site' She has a chiropodist visit once a month who has told her its very badly damaged tissue but will heal eventually. Perhaps your Dd has the same.

Thanks coffee - I hope it's not that as I've been trying ever so hard not to get the liquid on anything other than the verruca but it's really difficult. We gave it a rest last night and will start again tonight. The problem seems to be that it's this or nothing as far as I can tell (DH wouldn't be impressed if I started trying banana skin or dandelions!!).

I know some ladies on here have spoken about duct tape? I think it cuts off the air supply and eventually goes, But that might have been for warts, Oh dear, not much help am I?! :) Perhaps put another thread in chat where traffic is busier!

I've just got rid of dd's verruca with salactol at the 3rd attempt. The 2 previous attempts have resulted in it growing back. This time I just kept going and going! About 2 weeks ago I thought that it was just about gone and told dd I wasn't putting anymore stuff on it and she said great, it was starting to be sore after you put the stuff on. What I think was happening was that the treatment was starting to hit the new skin under the verruca as the verruca was totally dead. So a little bit of pain exactly where the verruca was is probably a good sign.

Can I add thet the 2 previous unsuccessful attempts were with the stuff that you apply once and it is supposed to freeze it - useless! The second was with salactol but I don't think I did it for long enough.
