go to the docs with a persistent cough and snotty nose, or not?

ds1 (6) has had a chesty cough left over frfom a cold and a snotty nose for a good couple of weeks, It gets worse in the cold or if he goes outside and runs about. I think the snotty nose might be hayfever. He doesn't have a temp, and doesn't seem unwell, maybe a bit tired, but could be through later nights as we are on easter holls. I also had a cough which took a few weeks to clear up, and I think we have the same thing. I think it's a viral thing that is just going to take a while, but DH is nagging me to take him to the doctors. If he has no temperature and is not unwell in himself, the doctor can't do anything, right? Or do I need to take him so he can listen to ds's chest?

yes take him
dd(19) left a chesty cough for 7 weeks and ended up with pneumonia and is still recovering

My DS and DD also have this at the moment. I am lucky DH is a GP and regularly listens to their chest. As predicted they are fine and it's all viral but still an important thing to check so yes do take him down for a once over. Hope he feels better soon Smile

Ok thanks for your advice. I did take him in the end, and chest was clear so we just have to wait for it to clear up I guess! Smile
