we think our 8 month old ds may have had 2 small teaspoons of 2 week out of date yogurt yesterday morning. I have only just discovered the yogurt pot in the fridge and dp thinks he might have given it by mistake. it is definately off.

ds has been off colour since yesterday at points but no sickness, diahorrea (sp?!) though tearful and has temp of 38 degrees. He has been happy and smiling at various points though and has been eating ( though less than usual). I have been upping the breast feeds anyway - because of the temperature, but can anyone tell me if there is anything else I should do, and what harm may have been done?

Thanks.

Your DS will be fine - he will eat a lot worse -his being off colour will pass - it's no big deal.

Relax, it was yesterday morning. If something drastic was going to happen I think it would have by now.
Just keep an eye on him and if you are still worried tomorrow, phone your GP surgery.

Two spoonfuls of an off yogurt (and I bet it wasn't off - they go on for ever!) won't do him any harm, and certainly wouldn't be responsible for a temperature. If it had any harmful bugs in, he would have thrown it up pretty quickly. Chill.

Thanks everyone. His temp went up to 39.5 so took him to doc who confirmed nothing to do with yogurt but a virus. He seems a lot better today :) although he now wants to be fed to sleep every hour.. arrghh... all that work gone in 3 days! :(
