so far have put calamine lotion on regularly (we're only on day 3 of spots) and calpol. She's so distressed I have no idea what to do with her now. We've got rid of clothes/pj's for now as they're rubbing the sore spots, esp on her tummy :(

Are you sure that some of them couldn't be infected? You said some are v big? I had a friend whose dd was screaming in pain with chicken pox and it turned out they had been infected from the start somehow. they weren't pussy just bigger than usual and red raw. Bathing in all the suggested helps actually made it worse. As soon as her mum got her to the GP and onto antibiotics things improved dramatically.

I hope the pox are all gone soon.

the ds's and I all got cp last year. We had it really badly and our spots were very big, very inflamed and very very sore and painful. Not infected though, just a big dose of the pox. My whole face swelled up!! Plus its not just itchy, it is painful too, and you do feel really achey and ill with it when you get it badly. Take all painkillers possible!! The only thing that took the pain away was to lie in a bath of bicarb solution. Also to be absolutely on time with calpol, piriton and neurofen taken together.

God it's hideous isn't it?

you lot need to write the book on "Pox Survival" or something. Awesome advice, thank you!

Go to the GP. I got piriton, calprofen, eurax cream and eurax lotion all on prescription. (the eurax was brilliant btw, and I've since been using it myself on mozzie bites and the itchiness instantly disappears.

Oh, and CUT HER NAILS!!

The only thing that relievd my 2 was Bicarbonate of Soda in a warm bath. DDs spots did get infected, she had it for a total of 5 weeks! and was prescribed antibiotic cream for her spots. DS was over his in about 5 days
