hi
since about october time my DD cant seem to go more than a couple of weeks without getting a cough, a fever, an ear infection ,etc. In mid Feb she got glandular fever; a week or two after she got over the acute phase of that, she got an ear infection. Now, after a couple of weeks, she has a barking cough which sounds like it could be croup (i am taking her to the doctor today). we did bloodtests to diagnose GF and there was nothing else obviously wrong other than iron-deficiency anemia (she was prescribed supplements and i restarted them a couple of days ago - we stopped them when she got ill with an ear infection). the tests were reasonably comprehensive but i am obviously wondering why her immune system seems so weak. does anyone has any thoughts or been through similar. i worry there is an underlying cause of all this but the ped seemed to be taking each case individually and be slightly dismissive of me as a paranoid mother. Thank you.

That sounds like the normal course of glandular fever tbh. I was constantly ill for 6 months with it.

really? even with the seemingly separate symptoms like ear infection and (now) barky cough? because i am thinking, since she was ill quite a bit before the GF, that something is depressing her immune system and don't want to miss anything underlying. Even getting the GF at her age is quite rare from what i understand...But thank you - glad that you think its normal. :)

Worth talking to your gp if your worried. I had awful trouble with my ears when I had gf though.
