Chicken pox been doing the rounds at dd's nursery. She's had it before as has ds but he was only 4 months old so apparently likely to get it again. Anyway, just noticed three spots in his armpit and he's been cranky today. Could not be I suppose but gut instinct is it's the pox. We're going to the Canaries on Saturday. What to do? Can we just go anyway??? Not v fair on other passengers... But OH NO first holiday for three years!!! Advice please.

I believe that if a child (person) has chicken pox they won't be allowed on a plane, remember it can be a very dangerous disease to some people, including pregnant women.
If any spots are visible the staff won't let you board.

I wouldn't go. We cancelled a holiday due to this about a month ago. As you say, it's not fair on other passengers or on your DS if he's feeling awful while you travel. Also, even if you get on the flight on the way out they could turn you down on the way home - then what would you do?

Sorry, I know this won't be what you want to hear but I always feel that it's better to be at home when they're ill anyway. It's early still so maybe leave it another day or two before calling the insurance company Sad .

You're right. Of course. It would be irresponsible. SHIT! Unbelievable. Just hoping it's toddler acne or something.

Could it be something else? I'm thinking molloscum (right place for it). Or impetigo. Don't cancel unless you're sure is chickenpox. If no clearer by tomorrow afternoon I'd be tempted p get gp opinion.

I wouldnt cancel yet, wait till tomorrow afternoon when hopefully it will bve obvious if he has it or not

Yes, reckon if it is CP then they'll be more spots tomorrow but will take to gp to check before cancelling. Will prob need to anyway for travel insurance

Hmm - no further spots this morning. Feeling a bit more hopeful... Will take to GP in the morning either way.
