Ds came up in Hives after taking Benylin....

I understand that it is an allergy but what is it likely to be? Do we think it is a specific ingredient in the medicine? in which case it is likely to happen with other cough medicines isn't it?

or just specifically the benylin?

He has a horrible dry cough but the GP just fobbed me off with a "get him some piriton" over the phone so didn't get the chance to ask.

Frankly it could be anything in the ingredients including the colouring. lots of different medicines have some ingredients the same. Keep the list and check with the chemist next time DS has any meds.

thats what i was afraid of.
It was quite a quick and violant looking reaction, I was hoping it would be easily identifiable so i could prevent it happening again.

Guess it will be some trial and error.
