My dd1 had braces fitted last March she still has about another 8 months to go before they come off. The Orthodontist noticed that her gum at the bottom incisor seems to be receding, she's been refered to a dental hospital in another town and we're going next month. Our usual dentist looked at it and said that it is quite common, something to do with bone moving and that they might do a graft.
I also noticed tonight that she seems to have what looks like gum growing down over the teeth on her upper jaw on the back molars.
Has anyone elses child had this happen to them when they've had braces fitted? If they had the receding gum type bit did they get a graft? And is it common for the gums to appear to grow down over the teeth?
I'm trying to work out how worried I should be about this.
