Baby sounds hoarse - should I be worried?

DS is 7 months and normally very chatty - babbles away a lot of the time. Today and yesterday he's been virtually silent, and when he cries it sounds higher-pitched than usual and as though he's a bit hoarse. Apart from that he seems fine: he's taking his feeds well, eating solids and seems alert and interested in everything. Should we take him to the GP or am I worrying about nothing?

Baby DS had this at about 4m - when he cried it was very high pitched. He developed a bog-standard cough and cold

DP said he sounded like a baby pterodactyl Grin

Hope your DS is ok. See how he goes the next couple of days

My DS used to sound this way. It could be his throat. A bit of calpol will ease pain and reduce any inflammation.
