Just caught DS (2) shoving pen in his mouth. And not a nice washable crayola one - a crappy pound shop one that's really hard to get out of stuff.

Is it poisonous? just tried to get it off with a toothbrush but not sure if that did any good really.

Thanks for that. it's not ball point though. It's a felt tip (although having tried to get it out of a table before it's more like a mini permanent marker)

DS did this once--no ill-effects at all.

Hi threefeethigh, sorry last post was no help. Been searching the internet for you, can't find anything specific to felt/marker pens but it seems that the general rule is that as long as less than an ounce swallowed then not toxic.
May be best to contact the supplier if you still have packaging/can remeber who they are.
Hope someone else can be of more help.

Thanks MillieMoo81, it was a useful anyway, I've learned about ball points and some general stuff - like the ounce as you say.

The thing about these pens is they're unbranded and just from a oiund shop - I forget which one. I've not liked them since I discovered they're basically mini-permanent markers, now I like them less. I think the lesson is stick to Crayola etc until DS has grown out of drawing on his tongue.

My DD (19 months old) did this a couple of weeks ago, her tongue was completly green, she's fine.

It was a crappy pound shop one too, green, I have since bought some crayola ones actually as she also drew all over her top and that is now ruined, but she's absolutely fine and tongue is no longer completly green Grin

[feeling like bad mummy, as didn't occur to me to check if it was poisonous, she's a poor neglected 3rd child Blush ]
