My poor baby has big red blotchy hives and I can't work out why

DS2 is 7 months. Has been on formula for about 6 weeks since I stopped bf (went back to work)He's been doing well on solids, we started with rice cereal and then oat cereal, then went through some first stage single fruit and veg jars. All was fine, he liked everything, no reaction.

Then last Friday, he woke up with a rash. I took him to the doctor who said it was hives, and was most likely to be an allergic reaction. But everything he'd eaten or come into contact with for the previous few days was stuff he'd had before with no problems. No change in detergent or baby wash.

I don't know what to do, I keep dosing him with anti allergy stuff and it makes the hives better for a few hours then they come back. He doesn't have a temp, and is happy in himself. I'm going to take him back to the doctor tomorrow.

Should I try soy formula? Out of the limited number of things he's actually eaten, milk is the most common allergen. But can a baby just develop an allergy just like that?

Any experience or wisdom out there?

Hi, my baby had just the same condition. When she was about 6 months old she just developed hives all over her body. there seemed to be no reason why and I even ended up taking her to a Harley Street dermatologist who told me some children were just like that and not to worry that their bodies were just getting used to the environment. By the time she was one it had all stopped, but like you I went to the doctors and tried to find a cause. Not suggesting your child has not got an allergy just giving you my experience.
