She has had D & V for 5 days, we have already been sent to the hospital by the gp because her poo was white and had blood in it and she hadn't had a wet nappy for 3 days. She wet her nappy when we got to the hospital and they got her temp down so they sent us straight home.

Now 2 days later she still hasn't kept any food down, she is refusing to eat most things but when I do get her to eat it comes back up within 5 minuets. She has slept for 90% of the day for the last 3 days and has cried the other 10. I am not sure what to do :(

Go back to A&E now, she sounds very dehydrated and unwell.

My DD aged one has been the same since Monday. She was so poorly yesterday, we took her to the children's walk in as couldn't get an appt til evening with GP. Doctor said it was a nasty virus and there were lots of children with the same. We had to stay in the hospital for a few hours and syringe dioralyte every 10 mins. She's much better on that but still has D & V.
I would try and see a doc again - hope she has a speedy recovery.

Is her fontella sunken?

Guacamole · 19/02/2011 16:05

My personal opinion is to take her back to hospital now. My DS has just recovered from gastroenteritis, we were given Dioralytes to administer every 5 mins to prevent dehydration.

Agree don't worry about food or even milk if she can't keep it down, go back to doctors, get rehydration sachets and syringe in if she won't willingly drink.

We are currently doing the same with DD

Cagirl, yes it is... what does that mean?

Pixie, yes she has had a couple of wet nappies today.

She is drinking juice abd keeping most of that down.
