Hi

My DD has a skin tag beside her ear and she has been referred to have it removed surgically.

I was talking to my Dr about it and he says that it may well fall off on its own.

This would be great as she can avoid surgery has this happened to anyone?

Thanks

I think it depends on how thick the little stalk is - if it's pretty thin, then you're in with a chance. Ds1 had two skin tags removed at 18 months - we thought one of them might go on its own, but it didn't. We debated a lot about the surgery, but I'm glad he had it done - it was over quickly as a day case. He was really well looked after and now you can barely see where they were. The sturdier one was quite big and I'm sure would have bothered him when he was older.

Thanks Wilbur, I'm still debating about it. If it doesn't fall off I think I will go ahead with the surgery but think I will wait until she is well over one as well. (shes 4 months now)

My DD was born with 2, 1 on her cheek and 1 by her ear. The one on the cheek fell off after 2 months or so, but the ear tag remains and she's having surgery soon.

Thanks Nippolopolis. What age is your DD if you don't mind me asking?

She's 10mo now. Surgery no earlier than 18 months though.

Thanks I am going to wait until around then too, the surgeon is happy to go ahead now but I would prefer to wait.
