DD (22mo) has a bit of a cold - chesty cough, slightly snotty (but not very) - and gunky eyes. Shes never had gunky eyes before (not even when tiny) and so I'm being a bit useless and not sure what the protocol is! She seems ok about them, until she rubs them at which point she cries. They don't look overly red, but are very gunky. Should I phone the out of hours doctor, should I try to get an emergency appointment with the GP in the morning or should I make a normal appointment later in the week?

Sorry to be useless!

Thanks all, have started doing the wiping with warm water thing, and as I happened to end up in Tesco this afternoon popped to the pharmacist as she had become grumpy (DD, not the pharmacist Grin ). He said, as previous posters have said, that he couldn't give anything due to her age. However, he felt it was conjunctivitis and that we should go to the GP tomorrow.

Poor DD is obviously feeling under the weather with it now, and being decidedly whingey (which is unusual for her). It's really thick green gloop now too. :(

Phoned the GP and they prescribed eyedrops over the phone. Hopefully it'll start to settle soon.
