kawasaki disease, anyone's child had it?

Sorry already posted about being at childrens hospital but forgot to ask whether anyone child has had this condition? Waiting on blood tests hope its not that

Friend's son had it - he went against all advice and played loads of sport etc. Now used as example by Gt Ormond St. He's early 20s and his future seems bright.

Good luck and hope it isn't Kawasaki but the future may not be as bleak as you imaginine if it does turn out to be that.

thanks very much, luckily turned out to be an ear infection.. had never heard of kawasaki before but glad she hasn't got it - didn't' realise till I read your post that it was a longer term condition though

Phew! Yes it can be awful and cause sudden death at a young age, apparently. Thank goodness it's only an ear infection.

I think Kawasaki is rare nowadays as it's easily treated with antibiotics the first fewe days and there's much greater awareness Smile

Exactly, not many people are aware how serious it is - I thought it was a motorbike at first. But any high fever lasting 5 days or more and not well controlled with anti fever meds should ring alarm bells. Its pretty treatable if caught early.
