Well the title says it really.
My dd is 9 months and has always had cold hands and feet that are blue most of the time. Our house is quite cold so I thought this was the reason.
Tonight though after her bath I noticed that three of her toes on one foot were very swollen, red and shiny almost looking like blisters but without fluid iykwim. There were also 3 purple wheels (sp) on her foot sole.
I'm thinking maybe she has a circulatory problem like Raynaud's.
Has anyone any experience of these symptoms?

thanks for that Chix.
My DP said the red toes look like chilblains. But doesn't explain the hot/cold feet etc

I guess if they were chilblains they would feel hot, I get them too and they are inflamed and itchy and cause my toes to feel hot. Your DDs feet are only little so they could make her whole foot hot....?
Both DS and I have naturally v cold feet and apparently its when they get really cold and then warm afterwards that chilblains are made worse. I know mine have just cropped up again now the weather has turned frosty.

HTH obv get it checked out if you are worried.

Hi, my dd got this last winter....she has had a few episodes this winter but only when outside for too long. Her hands and feet go bright purple/blue and are ice cold. When she warms up they go bright bright red.

The drs have said its a form of juvenile raynauds which she will grow out of....certainly not as bad as last winter when she was about 8/9 months old...

Nigglewiggle...my dds looks exactly the same as yours with those little pink red patches on it too..

Do get it checked out op

I have removed the pictures from my profile, but if anyone else reads this and thinks it would be helpful to see them, PM me and I'll put them back up or email them.

Truffle I hope you get some reassurance for your DD soon. Smile

An update....
DD has to go for tests at the hospital tomorrow to investigate, can't go now as they don't have any beds. If she gets any worse in the mean time I have to take her to A&E.

The GP seemed to think that she was too young to have Raynaud's. She thinks it's circulatory, which I guess is the heart.Sad
She was very vague about what tests they would do? Has anyone any ideas?

Didn't want to leave you un-answered.

Sorry, just spotted your message. Just to clarify - the consultant explained that they would not diagnose Reynauds in such a young child, but that the process of extreme constriction and dilation of the small blood vessels in the hands and feet was very similar to the symptoms of Reynauds.

They did check DD's heart and monitored her oxygen levels overnight. They checked her blood pressures and pulses in each limb. I can't think of anything else, but it was 2 years ago.

I hope all goes well today and keep us posted. Smile

How did things go today truffle ?

Hopeful bump for update

Any news? My dd has limbs that turn black and is currently undergoing all kinds of investigations. She also gets red shiny fingers and toes, and the doctors are baffled.

She has been put on nifedipine and asprin and we are awaiting diagnosis. Her heart has been ruled out even thought the majority of the colour changes are on the left side.

Hope your lo is ok and I would be very interested to know what investigations they have done as it sounds similar to my dd situation
