Why's my 8 week old making that weird noise?

My 8 week old DS is making very weird grunting noises, mostly at night - and also sounds like he's (deeply) clearing his throat. I did use to think it might be reflux, but he doesn't vomit and he's not in discomfort - he still sleeps - but it's just very noisy. Is he congested? Would I see it in his nose? (It's clear). He snores sometimes when he's upright in the sling...

Any thoughts as to what it is, and how to reduce it?

Four of yours? How many do you have?! Smile

I'm a newbie; never sure what's normal!

DS was also a grunter, and my friend's newborn baby also is. I wouldn't worry about it. Hard if you're a light sleeper though.

Geez, the noises DD used to make after coming home from SCBU! I've never heard ANYTHING like it!

Apparently preemies are prone to be particularly noisy for some reason, but the noises were inhuman at times! I remember a deep laugh at one point when she was still only about 5lb. Something that small shouldn't have made a noise that deep or loud!
