DD has sort of shredded skin on her fingers..

Anyone know why this is, or what we can do about it?

DD is 4 and the skin on more or less all her fingers, between the nail/cuticle and the top knuckle/joint (IYSWIM), is all peeling back in sort of shreds and the area is a bit inflamed.

She does suck her thumb and often has her fingers in her mouth. COuld this be why or is it a sign of some infection or virus??

TIA

It's because she sucks her thumb and puts her fingers in her mouth.

Hmm I thought that was probably the case. Just one more reason for us to stop the whole thumb-sucking problem! Not easy though!

Best of luck. It's a comfort thing I think so I'd try to replace it with something else.
